Abstract: We report preliminary analysis of mapping CT exam codes from an HIE to LOINC. For the most frequently performed CT exams at 26 HIE sites, LOINC’s concept type coverage was 93% and improved to 95% with addition of new LOINC codes that were created from our submission requests. This study may help others understand the effort involved and problems encountered in similar large mapping efforts for radiology codes.

Learning Objective 2: Understand the process by which LOINC® works with end-users to create new LOINC codes from submission requests.
