Description

Abstract: The National Patient-Centered Clinical Research Network’s (PCORnet) Antibiotics Study (ABX) was the first observational research study to utilize the PCORnet Prescribing table. In investigating the Prescribing table at participating sites, ABX identified several key considerations for all future PCORnet prescribing research. Considerations include Concept Unique Identifier (CUI) missingness, CUI specificity, date completeness, and record uniqueness. Information management and application of lessons-learned will be essential for the long-term usability of prescribing data for PCORnet research.

Learning Objective 1: Identify the four critical Prescribing table considerations for multi-site, observational research in PCORnet.

Learning Objective 2: Propose remediation techniques to address the four critical Prescribing table issues in PCORnet.
