Description

Abstract: As advancements in the medical field continue to rely on large scale clinical data sets, there is an urgent need to release this data from siloed repositories within individual institutions. The work presented in this poster describes the regulatory and technical workflows that were established in support of the VA’s recent efforts to release de-identified patient data to NCI repositories. We believe the lessons learned from this endeavor will benefit other data release efforts.

Learning Objective 1: Have an understanding of some of the various regulatory and technical hurdles found in a typical large healthcare system that need to be overcome in order to release patient data to external repositories.

Learning Objective 2: Begin to formulate the workflows needed to release data from their own healthcare system.
